Three Peaks Family Parks - The Family Mountains

At our farm, you're already at a wonderful altitude. But the mountains surrounding Zwiglhof in the Dolomites region are waiting to be explored! For a fantastic family time in the Three Peaks Dolomites region, there are very special offers for a family holiday in South Tyrol that you absolutely shouldn't miss. Where the most popular ski resorts in and around Innichen are found in winter, families can use the Three Peaks Mountain Card to embark on a three-day journey to three sensational destinations during their family holiday.

  • Haunold Mountain Station - The Giant Kingdom of Haunold
  • Helm Mountain Station - Olper's Mountain World at Helm
  • Rotwand Mountain Station - Rotwand

The Giant Kingdom of Haunold

Those who spend their family holiday at Zwiglhof in South Tyrol are already very close to the famous Giant Haunold! Just a few minutes' walk from the center of Innichen, you'll reach the four-seater chairlift, which takes families directly into the Giant Kingdom. At an altitude of 1650 m, everyone can first fortify themselves at the Riese-Haunold-Hütte before the legend surrounding Giant Haunold awaits discovery. A family circular trail leads through the dwarf village to the dwarf obstacle course at lofty heights and to barefoot lakes.

Once all the giant's secrets have been revealed, you can also enjoy the Funbob summer toboggan run as a fun alternative for the descent. The best time to visit the giant is on a Friday, as that's when a huge children's festival is held every summer.

Olperl's Mountain World on Mount Helm

One mountain station further, on Mount Helm, someone else is up to mischief. The Olperl! A blend of human and animal, it has always lived on Mount Helm and loves to play tricks on hikers. It is very clever, but by no means malicious, and enjoys playing friendly pranks. If you encounter it, it's easily recognizable by its loud whistling sounds or large, round eyes. The Olperl has kindly agreed to open its realm as an adventure park.

The 1.5 km circular trail features 10 exciting adventure points. You can reach Olperl's World with the mountain lifts from Vierschach or Sexten. By the way – but it's a secret – the Olperl also enjoys taking a holiday with us at Zwiglhof. Because even an Olperl needs a break sometimes. Who knows – perhaps you'll spot its round eyes somewhere among our cows in the pasture…

Reindeer at the Rotwand Mountain Station

The Rotwand mountain station in the Three Peaks region is a must-visit for all children who love animals. And anyone enjoying a family farm holiday in South Tyrol certainly has a soft spot for animals! In addition to a petting zoo, a species that typically belongs in Finland or with Santa Claus has also made its home here. The resident reindeer can be observed, fed, or even petted. Once, Seppl, Rudolf (not the one with the red nose, of course), Rosi, and Valentina were the only ones of their kind in the Dolomites. But soon, family planning began, and now there's plenty of offspring. The reindeer herd on the Rotwand is the only one in the entire Alps.

For those who have seen and felt enough animals, the playground on the Rotwandwiese meadow comes highly recommended. Here, young visitors are welcomed not only with an adventure swing or fantastic slides. All toys, such as excavators, shovels, buckets, wheelbarrows, and bouncy animals, are also available free of charge. Adults can make themselves comfortable on hanging swings and enjoy a cold drink or warming coffee from the Rotwandwiesenhütte.

However, the Rotwand Play Park is not only a fantastic destination for family holidays in the South Tyrolean mountains during summer. Ice castles and the Giant Snowman Family transform the Rotwand into a winter wonderland. The Rotwand in the Three Peaks region is easily accessible via the Rotwand cable car.

Little Ones, Big Adventures on a Children's Holiday - 3 Zinnen Mountain Hero

In summer, the 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski region transforms into a paradise for families. At several stops in the 3 Zinnen Family Parks, children have the opportunity to playfully explore the alpine animal world and the UNESCO World Heritage Site Sexten Dolomites with its fascinating stories.

Become a 3 Zinnen Mountain Hero in just four days. With the purchase of the 3 Zinnen Mountain Card, children receive the Mountain Hero wristband for free to punch. Master all adventures at the four mountain stations in the Three Peaks region. Claim your treasure and crown your unforgettable family holiday in the Dolomites. Once you have visited Olperl, the giant Haunold, and the reindeer at Rotwand, you still need to go to Stiergarten. The punch points are located at the respective mountain stations of the Family Parks.

South Tyrol Holiday with Children for Little Dolomite Explorers

A holiday with children in South Tyrol ideally means letting go, enjoying the tranquility of the Dolomite mountain landscapes, and spontaneously discovering little things that suddenly appear on the path and absolutely must be explored. However, today's youth unfortunately think differently. They always want to know everything precisely. In times of mobile phones and iPads, some children in elementary school already know more than their parents. Should such a little know-it-all live in your home, then we have some suggestions here to satisfy their curiosity. So that they can truly grasp what the mobile phone tells them in letters, numbers, and pictures.

  • Dolomiti Ranger

WaldWunderWelt Toblach
The WaldWunderWelt in Toblach imparts great knowledge to young explorers about what South Tyrol has in abundance. South Tyrol has a total area of 739,997 ha, of which 372,174 ha are forest. You have certainly noticed this during the first days of your farm holiday. Shouldn't one be well-informed about that? Absolutely!

The WaldWunderWelt in Toblach promotes the playful experience of the forest cosmos. Isn't it exciting to measure the jumping power of an animal forest inhabitant against your own? Or to climb into a woodpecker tree to find out how the tapping bird feels at home?

A barefoot path allows you to experience the textures of different forest floors, and interactive display boards reveal fascinating facts about the forest in South Tyrol and the Alta Pusteria. Topics include mushrooms, rock types, and animal tracks. A special highlight for the whole family is the Celtic tree horoscope. Twenty-one tree trunks, arranged in a circle, are assigned to the annual cycle. They are linked to human character traits. Each tree has its own meaning.

Dolomythos San Candido

The Dolomythos in San Candido is not actually a playground, but a museum that tells the story of the Dolomites. Here you can make magnificent discoveries. First, there are the replicas of dinosaurs that populated the Dolomites in ancient times. What did the area around the Puster Valley and the Three Peaks look like back then? If there are answers to these questions, you'll find them at Dolomythos San Candido!

Perhaps you have already discovered some of the legends in our library at Zwiglhof that can also be found in the museum. For example, those of the “Pale Mountains” or the “Croderes, the Rock People”? If you are enthusiastic treasure hunters, you can find valuable treasures in the treasure digging field, such as shark teeth, rock crystals, citrines, amethysts, rose quartz, agate, aventurine, hematite, real gold, or ammonites.

Three Peaks Nature Park House

At the Three Peaks Nature Park House in Dobbiaco, a continuous exhibition on the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage is presented. A special exhibition on the Three Peaks Nature Park, divided into two sections, is located in the underground part of the building. The first section is dedicated to the various areas recognized as UNESCO World Heritage sites. These include, in addition to the Three Peaks Dolomites Nature Park, for example, the Grand Canyon in the United States, the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, or the Plitvice Lakes National Park in Croatia.

In this first room, curious visitors are taken on a journey through the geological history of the Dolomites and are presented with special events from the Sesto Dolomites and Braies Dolomites. For those who cannot decide which impressive Dolomite landscape is the most worth seeing, the second part of the exhibition offers the opportunity for an in-depth exploration through video installations of the breathtaking world of the Three Peaks and its surroundings.

Dolomiti Ranger

Dolomiti Ranger - an unforgettable nature experience for the entire family: Parents and children aged 7 to 12 have the opportunity to embark on an exciting journey of discovery into the world of stones, led by expert guides. With plenty of fun and a touch of adventure, all burning questions from young explorers will be answered three days a week. The most curious participants, who attend all three themed days, will receive the prestigious 'Dolomiti Ranger Diploma' as recognition for their knowledge of 'The World of Stones'.

The program includes the 3 Peaks Visitor Centre, the Nature Park with its three distinctive peaks, and the Fanes-Sennes-Prags Nature Park. The second adventure takes place in the evening and leads into the fascinating world of the forest. Through the enchanting power of stories and myths, a mysterious atmosphere is created, where you might even hear nocturnal animals – if you're lucky.

Sturdy shoes, sunscreen, hiking clothes, rain gear, a packed lunch, and something to drink for the hike, good spirits, and a thirst for knowledge are essential for true Dolomiti Ranger families.
