Right next to the house is the playground: swings, a slide, a sandbox, and a trampoline await them. But often, children are drawn a few steps further – down to the stream, which gently babbles between meadow and forest. Here, dams are built, stones are collected, and small boats are crafted with sticks. Imagination knows no bounds here.

There's also plenty to experience beyond the farm. A short walk leads into the forest, where tree trunks for balancing and pinecones for collecting await discovery. The surrounding area beckons with family-friendly hiking trails, charming alpine huts serving Kaiserschmarrn, and viewpoints where the Dolomites feel almost within reach.

Here, it's not about explaining, but experiencing: walking barefoot, feeling the warm wind on your skin, dipping hands into fresh hay, listening to the hum of bees, and hearing laughter in the air.

What would a children's farm be without animals? At Zwiglhof, life with animals is a natural part of everyday life. Our farm is home to a cheerful host of animal companions – friendly, curious, and ready to be discovered.

You'll feel it the moment you arrive: here, you'll immerse yourselves in authentic farm life. And the best part? Children aren't just spectators – they get to help, be right in the middle of it all, becoming part of the farm's daily rhythm.

There's almost always something happening in the stable. The cows snort softly, calves stand by their mothers, and somewhere a cat meows. Access is very easy: through the machinery room, out the door, and immediately to the right – and you're right in the thick of it. Our ponies Ferdi and Flecki, Haflinger mare Perle, and farm dog Kitti are especially delighted by your visit. The rabbits also hop around curiously, and our flock of chickens enjoys being watched as they busily explore the farm.

For everyone – people and animals – to feel comfortable and safe, one thing is important: children, please only enter the stable or pasture accompanied by their parents. Because even though our animals are tame, they remain living beings with their own character and will.

Those who wish are welcome to lend a hand: pushing hay, fetching water, and helping with feeding. A helping hand is always welcome here.
These small tasks make the day special – they foster closeness, trust, and an appreciation for
how valuable agriculture in harmony with nature can be.

Spring at the Children's Farm – When Nature Awakens

Spring in South Tyrol is magical: down in the valley, the fruit trees are already blossoming, while snow still glistens on the mountain peaks. At Zwiglhof, spring means one thing above all: new life on the farm! During this season, our calves are often born, and our little rabbits also have offspring. Children might even witness a calf's first wobbly steps or observe tiny bunnies in their nest. That's enough to make every heart leap with joy!

There's also much to discover on the farm in spring: The first grass is prepared for the animals, in the vegetable garden we plant the seedlings, and our hens diligently lay eggs.

Your children are welcome to watch us or even lend a hand. In the evening, everyone falls into bed happy and with rosy cheeks, content from the many impressions.

The Zwiglhof Farm in South Tyrol in Autumn and Winter

When autumn bathes the Pustertal valley in warm gold and the mountains are later cloaked in silent white, a very special time begins at Zwiglhof. Colours, light, and air transform – and with them, the rhythm of life. It becomes calmer, clearer, more mindful. A winter holiday in South Tyrol then reveals its coziest and most impressive side.

In winter, our farm becomes a peaceful oasis in the snow. The slope right next door is perfect for first attempts at sledding. Those who wish can stroll with us to the stable, where the cows snort and breath forms small clouds.

Whether you prefer active sports or leisurely strolls, the surrounding area is full of surprises. In summer, child-friendly hiking trails lead to scenic viewpoints and alpine huts; in winter, you can enjoy tobogganing, ice skating, or visit one of the nearby ski resorts. Kronplatz is a true classic – offering panoramic views, a mountain museum, a playground at the summit, and family-friendly slopes. Equally impressive is Lake Braies (Pragser Wildsee), which offers a unique nature experience in every season.

Our farm is Bioland-certified – meaning: species-appropriate animal husbandry, natural feeding, no genetic engineering, no antibiotics. We value every detail – from pasture to plate, with respect for animals and nature.

A hearty breakfast with fresh eggs from our hens, homemade jam, fragrant farm bread, fruit, yogurt, and many other farm-fresh products – a start to the day that not only satisfies but also delights.
